Residence for Mr. Jude and family at Thoraipakkam, Chennai

A modern home that refrain with the requirements, aspiration and personality of the client is what distinguishes  the residence at Thoraipakkam for Mr. Jude and family.
The house has been designed for a join family that consists of an IT couple with their young son and elderly parents. The 5 bedroom house with inner spaces separated by nature i.e. green courtyards, small water bodies and level differences makes it only one of its kind.
The skylights provided at the ceiling helps to shed light on the entire house by flooding in natural daylight. The central court and atrium acts as a medium connecting different part of the house. At every fraction of the house either at ground or at first floor a series of green courts have been sited to bring the concept of ‘man living with nature’.
At the main entry of the house one can see the modernized traditional concept of ‘thinnai ‘to make possible the ease of seating in the evening with grandmother, son and his friends. Also the car parking space is designed to double up children space when both couple leaves for work.
At the Entry cube one can find a play of inter pergolas that partially hides grandparents who wait for the family to return from work and school.
Italian marble cum wooden flooring and kota flooring has been used to give a sense of variety and also to reduce the expenditure.
The house has been considerably raised to allow for future road raising and sewage line provision.
Slate tiles have been used at facade for easy maintenance. The contemporary style facade shifts between solid and void. The interior spaces express the real meaning of green courtyards, cross ventilation, natural lighting and openness

Proposed school building ( State Board Block) at Sriperambudur, Chennai

The school is designed in such a way to make the students enjoy their school life by creating their learning pleasurable and make them stay connected to the school in every aspect.
The school which includes, two blocks- the state block which consist of the academic and the lab and the library block has a courtyard that acts as a central focal element. And every floor is related to a series of cascading terrace looking towards the centre court. The curves on the exterior as well as the interior and the viewing cubes at different parts of the building make it aesthetically exceptional.
The designed is unified by the use of the corridors that open to ample spaces and the bay windows that opens to lovely vistas.  The amphitheatre at the main entrance of the school acts as a play space as well as a platform to conduct the co- curricular activities of the school and thereby avoiding the apprehension for school in children.
The deep shades casted by the walls and the curved enclosure evoke a sense of security within the campus and the green courtyard opening to the sky creates the natural venturi effect that reduces the heat inside by providing enough ventilation.

The design is a fine exemplar that shows how architecture speaks to the little ones.
